Gwen and I had visited The Cliffs, initially in 2007 and then earlier this year and had concluded that the combination of lakefront property with a mountain view was not going to be available at an acceptable price point. Then we met Michael Martin, who came highly recommended by friends he had worked successfully with finding their lot on Lake Keowee.
Michael’s initial approach was to show us a cross section of available lots from which he gauged the particular features that were important to us. At the end of our first day riding with Michael we were impressed by his knowledge of the Keowee market and convinced that he would do a good job in identifying a suitable lot, should one exist at our price point.
We let Michael know that we were in no rush and that we were happy to look at property over the remainder of 2008, so that’s how we left it.
Well, two weeks later, Michael calls with the message that he’d found a newly listed lot that met all our criteria and was priced attractively within our range. We hurried down from Atlanta, quickly agreed with his assessment of suitability and value and decided to move forward.
However Michael’s service didn’t end there. He quickly put us in touch with excellent mortgage sources and attorneys and subsequently assisted in finding local help to construct a temporary pathway down to our dock.

We had been interested in purchasing water front property on Lake Keowee for approximately a year when we met Michael Martin. We were working with another real estate agency and had become incredibly frustrated with the process. They never discussed the possibility of signing a “buyer agency agreement” with us. One day while engaged in casual conversation a friend of mine shared that he had recently purchased some property on Lake Keowee through a realtor named Michael Martin. I got Michael’s number and placed a call to get a feel for his style and what may be available. In our initial discussion I felt very good about Michael’s commitment to customer service and his interest in making the process as simple as possible for the prospect. This feeling proved a reality as we began the process. While searching for property, my wife and I recognized the degree to which Michael listened and evaluated our interests. As you know, some realtors clearly seem to be pushing specific properties without the best interests of the customer in mind. In fact Michael was so good at his profession, that after a full day looking on the lake we found our dream property. .Michael’s high level of service in locating the property was just the beginning. After making the sale his follow up assistance was of the highest quality I’ve ever seen. He provided counseling on finance options, walked us thru the closing process and even went back to the original property owner and retrieved information on our dock and boat lift. We have purchased numerous homes and investment properties over the years, and Michael is the best realtor we have used for any of the transactions. We recently purchased a home on Lake Keowee, with the assistance of Michael Martin. Over the years and through several moves, we have had occasion to purchase several homes. Michael Martin found the perfect place for us on Lake Keowee. In 2000, my wife, Sherri and I decided that we wanted a vacation home on one of the lakes of upstate South Carolina. My husband and I are from Georgia, but wanted to live on Lake Keowee in beautiful Seneca, South Carolina. Since we were not familiar with that area, we decided to use a real estate agent to help us find some of the less noticeable lots/subdivisions in that vicinity.
